What is stored
Emotion Wheel stores the emotion records you create, optional reflection fields, optional notes, capture settings and your selected colour theme. This information is stored in your browser's local storage on the current device.
Anonymous usage statistics
Emotion Wheel uses GoatCounter to count visits to its pages. When a page loads, your browser requests a small script from gc.zgo.at and sends a pageview to emotionwheel.goatcounter.com.
GoatCounter may process the page path and referrer, browser and operating-system category, language, screen width and an approximate country derived from the network address. GoatCounter says that it does not store IP addresses, full browser user-agent strings or tracking identifiers, and does not place cookies or use local storage in your browser. Information used to recognise repeat visits is held temporarily in memory for up to eight hours.
The statistics do not include your emotion selections, reflection answers, intensity values, physical sensations or notes. GoatCounter is operated from Ireland and its hosted service stores data on servers in Finland and Germany. You can prevent these statistics by blocking goatcounter.com and gc.zgo.at, including with a content blocker.
What is not collected
Emotion Wheel does not require an account, use tracking cookies, or send your saved emotion records to a remote database. It does not track actions within an entry.
When data leaves your browser
Anonymous pageview information is sent automatically as described above. Your saved emotion content leaves your browser only when you choose to export a CSV file, save a JSON backup, share a chart or table, or copy information to the clipboard. Check the destination and contents before sharing, particularly when a note includes sensitive information.
Keeping control of your data
Use Maintenance to save a JSON backup, load a previous backup or clear the current log. Clearing the log removes records from the current browser. Clearing browser site data also removes records and preferences, so save a backup first if you want to keep them.
Important limitation
This is a personal reflection tool, not a medical service, emergency service or secure clinical record. Avoid storing information you would not be comfortable keeping in local browser storage on the device you are using.
